<p>After a good workout, nothing is better than chocolate milk.  It is sort of feels like I&#8217;m cheating, but it is good for me!  Countless articles (<a href="http://www.fitnessmagazine.com/recipes/healthy-eating/superfoods/chocolate-milk-after-workout/">here</a>, <a href="http://www.webmd.com/fitness-exercise/news/20100604/chocolate-milk-refuels-muscles-after-workout">here</a>, <a href="http://www.askmen.com/sports/bodybuilding_200/247_fitness_tip.html">here</a>&#8230;just a few) say it is the perfect recovery drink.  Besides the benefits of the chocolate milk, it totally makes me want to work.  I try for one glass about 10-15 minutes after I workout&#8230;not right when I am finished because then I might barf.</p>
<p>I use 1% milk and Heresy&#8217;s chocolate syrup, it is delish.  I aim for about 8 ounces, but I am not measuring.  The ratio of carbs/sugar, protein and fat is just what your muscles need to recover.</p>
<p>Do I drink chocolate milk after EVERY workout?  No, sometimes I don&#8217;t work that hard (like todays 1/2 mile run), or I don&#8217;t have time, or it sounds nasty to me.  I also use EAS protein powder too.  Just depends on my mood!  I still drink lots of water as well-Chocolate milk alone won&#8217;t do you much good&#8230;if it is all you drink&#8230;like all day long&#8230;because it is really good.</p>

<p>I ran the first leg, a 10K, with a PR of 1:12.  Not too shabby!!</p>

<p>Morgan set a new PR 3:32.  He was really happy with his performance.</p>
<p>I would not have gotten out of bed and run in the crappy weather if it wasn&#8217;t for the super-fun-crazy ladies I was with.  We were all cold and wet before the race even started.  And for some INSANE reason when I was finished I said I had FUN.</p>

<em>&#8220;About every other day, I do a special 30-20-10 push-up circuit: 30 push-ups and 30 triceps dips, then 20 of each, then 10 of each.&#8221;</em></p>
<p>I tried it.  It wasn&#8217;t the worst thing I have ever done, but then I was doing modified pushups!</p>
<p>This week I challenge you to try it.</p>

<p>Guess what has resurfaced?  Yep.  My foot is feeling achy, like at any moment I will feel like I have a grapefruit for a foot (I know, it sounds weird, but that is how it feels).  I am wearing my magic shoes&#8230;addidas sandals, very old, not very stylish, but really the only thing that works.  It is hard to plan an outfit around navy blue slip on sandals, but I am trying to make it work.  I want to run this race&#8230;I have to run this race.  I am starting the relay.  So I am going to baby my foot all week and hopefully everything will work out!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Morgan will be running the OKC marathon, and I will be running the first leg of the marathon relay. I am running 10K so I need to be prepared nutritionally, but not as much as Morgan. I am not obsessive about my pre-race meal(s)&#8230;Morgan IS.</p>
<p>He has requested pasta with tomato sauce for the week. I think I might barf. I am going to make him a big pot of pasta with icky sauce and I shall eat salad&#8230;until Friday (maybe Thursday). (I have been on a salad kick.)</p>

<p>I digress.  But in a week I will be participating in my first marathon&#8230;still haven&#8217;t made it to &#8220;half marathon mama&#8221; status-but I am getting closer.</p>

<p>I&#8217;ve started telling myself I WILL workout today (and tomorrow and the next day and the next day) and I do it. Sometimes I have to sacrifice something-like a TV show, knitting time, or chatting time with friends at school, but I feel better when I&#8217;m done, and I really don&#8217;t miss much.</p>

<p>I won&#8217;t sacrifice time with Parker to workout, so he will workout with me! He likes to do jumping jacks, pushups, and stretching. We also jump on the trampoline and run around the block.</p>
<p>It seems like everyone who has a body I &#8220;want&#8221; works out A LOT.  There is none of that workout one day this week, and one day next week, then maybe not for another week or two&#8230;I&#8217;ve been working out at least once a day, watching what I eat (you know trying to up my protein, and down my fat&#8230;but this is difficult-I just want one day with 20% of my calories from protein, just one day!)</p>

<p>I&#8217;ve been using some Jillian Michael&#8217;s workouts the past week, and she&#8217;s been kicking my butt! I&#8217;m super annoyed by her, but she will make you work. She has &#8220;400 pound people doing jumping jacks-you can too!&#8221; Shut the F up is all I have to say to her, but I keep working.  I&#8217;ve read about people listen to their iPod while watching the video&#8230;</p>

<p>All in all you have to want it, it is so easy to make excuses (being sick or injured is NOT an excuse, it is your body telling you to take a break). So tell yourself you are going to do it and don&#8217;t cheat yourself!!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I have been debating on posting this for quite some time&#8230;my weight.  I am not really happy with what the scale says.  I remember when it said 120 lbs, and that was after having a baby.  I LOVE that weight.  I am 5&#8217;7&#8243; and 120 lbs is about the lowest of &#8220;healthy&#8221; on the BMI scale.  My current weight is still &#8220;healthy&#8221;, just not as low as 120.  I don&#8217;t really want to do a whole post on how BMI is not the most reliable measurement of wight for athletes, because well I don&#8217;t&#8230;so BMI is bad for people with lots of muscle&#8230;AKA my husband (he is &#8220;overweight&#8221;).</p>
<p>So I weigh&#8230;142 lbs.  I am not a fan of the number 4 in my weight.  But my body fat is 20.5%.  If I was able to lose only fat and get down to 120 lbs my body fat would be 5.9%, ummmm not exactly &#8220;healthy&#8221;.  While I wouldn&#8217;t mind dropping a few pounds of fat and say getting my body fat to about 16-18%, I am not going to kill my self over it (but honestly it wouldn&#8217;t be all that much weight-like 4 to 6 pounds).</p>
<p>I am going to continue to eat well, exercise and see what happens.</p>
